Fabio Capello is expecting a tough qualification group for UEFA Euro 2012 after the Three Lions were drawn against Switzerland, Bulgaria, Wales and Montenegro in Group G.

Speaking at the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw after the draw on Sunday morning, the England Manager said he was excited about the prospect of two games against neighbours Wales, who England last played in qualifying for the World Cup in 2006.

The campaign will begin in September and Capello has full confidence that his players will book their place in the Finals, which will be co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine.

Capello said: “The worst groups to be in are Group A and Group G – and we will play in Group G.

“It’s a very tough group because all the games are against very strong teams, really good teams. Switzerland pose a big challenge because they have qualified for the World Cup and are in good form.

“Of course I’m looking forward to playing Wales. It will be my first derby as manager of a national team. It will be very interesting and Wales have an excellent team – they are very young."

An aspect of the draw that pleased Capello was that the Three Lions were drawn in one of the three groups of five teams.

He added: “I prefer to be in the smaller group because there are less games but it’s tough. I’m happy to be in a group of five countries but not with the teams we’re playing.

“I am very confident in my team. I’m sure we will play a fantastic qualification for the European Championship."
