Charter Standard winners announced

The FA has announced the winners of this year’s FA Charter Standard Awards, sponsored by McDonald’s.

There are seven category winners recognising the achievements of our kitemarked clubs and their club officials.

Beverley Whitestar FC of East Riding won The FA Charter Standard Club Award after launching their first girls’ team and also integrating an adult disability team into the club.

Team Gryphon FC of Dorset won The FA Adult Club Award was formed in 2006 in a partnership between Gryphon Leisure Centre and the Gryphon School with an aim of bridging the gap between youth and adult football for 16-18 year-ols.

AFC Urmston Meadowside of Manchester won The FA Community Club Award and boasts 41 teams and over 600 players, who are supported by 90 volunteers and coaches.

Winwick Athletic Football of Lancashire and Longhoughton of Northumberland shared The FA Charter Standard Development Club Award. Winwick offers up to three qualified coaches per team and is working through a five-year development plan.

Darren Hawks of Hawkwell Athletic FC in Essex was named FA Coach of the Year, while Debbie Storey, Club Secretary of Clara Vale in Durham, was awarded the FA Administrator of the Year Award. Darren was praised by his club for his infectious ‘warmth, friendliness and passion for coaching youngsters’.

Working mother of two Debbie has been heavily involved with Clara Vale since its formation in 2005 and is instrumental in the day-to-day running of the club, and saw the club through their Charter Standard application.

Congratulations to our national winners and to all of the regional and local winners, who have been recognised by their County FAs.
