Mental matters

Learn more about the psychological demands of the game.

Places are still available on the Psychology Level Three Course at Staverton Park, Daventry on the 10-12 May 2010.

The three day course is designed for those who support player development. For example, coaches, parents, teachers, sports scientists, physiotherapists and doctors who work in and around football. If you have an interest in mental skill development and the design of mental skill programmes in football this is for you.

Tutored by Dr Matt Pain from Loughborough University, the course will generally focus on youth players aged between 12-16 and 17-21 years. It will investigate the psychological aspects relating to game demands, mental skills and performance profiling.

The course is structured around three areas:-
•         Psychological demands of the game
•         Mental skills for the game
•         Case studies

Assessment is via successful completion of all workshop tasks and exercises conducted through the course.

Candidates must be the minimum age of 18-years-old and we recommend the course to people with the following coaching/academic background:-
•         Current holder or have enrolled to attend Psychology Level 2
•         OR: Current holders of the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football (FA Coaching Certificate)
• OR FA Youth Award: Module 1 - Developing the Environment.

The residential course costs £235 for FACA Members who book online, £260 for those that book offline. Non-FACA Member costs: £290 Online, £320 Offline
