The Mixed Football experiment will continue into Season 2009-10.
The FA has agreed to extend the Mixed Football experiment until the end of Season 2009-10. Existing leagues already involved in the 2008-09 experiment and brand new leagues who wish to be involved must complete an FA Dispensation Form and send it to their County FA by Friday 24 July 2009. This will be for Season 2009-10 only, and for girls aged U12, U13 and U14.
This dispensation will only apply to those leagues who can show evidence of girls showing a strong desire to continue playing Mixed Football.
Leagues and their member clubs will not be encouraged to actively recruit girls for this as The FA Women's Committee still wish to see the majority of girls remain in the female player pathway.
Any league given dispensation must commit to work with The FA, County FAs and their partners to monitor and evaluate this experiment, as well as support debates in Counties regarding the overall views of mixed football.
Particular areas that will need to be discussed are the social, technical, psychological and physical aspects as well as demand, injuries, facilities and welfare matters.
It is hoped that a fully consulted proposal can then be reached based on facts and evidence and can be brought to The FA Council for their recommendations.
