Degen claim rejected

Liverpool defender to serve suspension

At a Regulatory Commission hearing today, a claim for wrongful dismissal by Liverpool defender Philipp Degen was rejected.

Degen was sent off for serious foul play during Liverpool’s Premier League match with Fulham on Saturday 31 October. Degen’s three-match suspension begins with immediate effect.

At the same hearing, claims of mistaken identity from Manchester United's Fabio Pereira Da Silva and Aston Villa's Stephen Warnock, after they each received a caution against Barnsley and Everton respectively, were upheld. Fabio Pereira Da Silva's caution was transferred to Rafael Pereira Da Silva and Warnock's caution was transferred to Stiliyan Petrov.
