22 youngsters have their moment in The Community Shield spotlight.
Twenty-two lucky young footballers from across the UK fulfilled their dreams by escorting their football heroes out onto the pitch for the FA Community Shield match between Manchester United and Chelsea.
A range of youngsters between the ages of seven and ten were given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a Player Escort and lead out the players from Manchester United and Chelsea courtesy of McDonald’s, The Presenting Partner of The FA Community Shield.
The children were chosen through a number of media competitions which involved parents writing in to say why their child deserved to accompany the players out onto the pitch at Wembley Stadium.
As well as their moment in the spotlight, the Player Escorts were also treated to a visit from World Cup hero Sir Geoff Hurst and Lynn Walcott, mum of England star Theo and McDonald’s Mums on the Ball ambassador, to make their weekend even more memorable.
Sir Geoff, McDonald’s Director of Football, met with the youngsters to give them top tips ahead of their moment in the Wembley Stadium spotlight and Lynn was on hand to offer the budding young players some advice for making it to the top.
