Lee Clark’s Huddersfield Town showed that their early season form is no coincidence as they hit four first half goals in a 6-1 thrashing of Dagenham & Redbridge in the First Round Proper of The FA Cup sponsored by E.ON.
Robbie Williams set the ball rolling when he hit the opening goal direct from a free-kick in the ninth minute.
A close range Gary Roberts header doubled the lead in 21st minute and a Lee Novak shot made it three just three minutes later. The match was over as a contest when Huddersfield’s Jordan Rhodes fired into the top right-hand corner of the Dagenham net a minute before half-time.
Novak got his second of the night and Huddersfield’s fifth goal ten minutes after the break and Roberts made it six of the best when he struck from the edge of the penalty area in the 72nd minute.
Elsewhere, Notts County maintained their impressive start to the season with goals either side of half-time helping through to the Second Round of The Cup with a 2-1 win over Bradford City.
Karl Hawley gave County the lead when he shot from just inside the penalty area into the bottom left hand corner of the Bradford goal two minutes into time added on at the end of the first half.
If that seemed like a good time to score, Bradford were left further reeling when Johnnie Jackson made it two-nil just 31 seconds after the restart with a shot from just outside the box.
Michael Boulding pulled a goal back for battling Bradford with nine minutes to go to set up a thrilling finish, but it proved to be too little too late.
