Bath City of the the Conference South produced the performance of the First Round Proper to defeat Grimsby 2-0 at Blundell Park.

On a day of thrills and spills up and down the country, goals either side of half-time from Chris Holland and Darren Edwards sealed Bath’s victory over the League Two club.

But Bath were not the only non-League side to knock a higher ranked side out of this season’s competition.

Oxford United, runaway leaders in the Conference Premier, continued their fine recent form with a 1-0 win over Yeovil of League One.

Richard Brodie’s goal two minutes from time earned York City a dramatic 3-2 victory over Crewe at KitKat Crescent.

And Staines Town, of the Conference South, were 1-0 winners over Shrewsbury at New Meadow thanks to Ali Chaaban’s 21st minute winning goal. Meanwhile, Luton Town, of the Conference Premier, squandered a 3-0 lead to Rochdale at Kenilworth Road. A second-half strike from Craig Dawson, plus two late goals from Joe Thompson, earned Rochdale a replay at Spotland.

And there was also late drama at Vale Park, where Stevenage Borough, of the Conference Premier, sealed a 1-1 draw with Port Vale thanks to Charlie Griffin’s stoppage time equaliser.

Elsewhere, Stockport eased to a 5-0 victory over Tooting & Mitcham, Torquay triumphed 3-1 over Cheltenham and Lincoln City prevailed 3-1 at AFC Telford.

Finally, there were also plenty of goals at Adams Park, where Wycombe Wanderers and Brighton played out an entertaining 4-4 draw.
