Millwall Lionesses ripped apart West Ham’s FA Women’s Premier League Cup dreams following a closely-fought contest in east London.

With little to choose between the two rivals, it was left to the lottery of penalty kicks to decided the outcome with Millwall holding their nerve to clinch a 4-1 shoot-out victory.

Another London side, Crystal Palace, suffered a 7-1 defeat at Keynsham Town Ladies after enduring a nightmare first-half. The Eagles were 4-1 down at the break and a rampant home side added another three in a similarly one-sided second half.

Aston Villa Ladies ensured they would not be outshone by their male counterparts following a 3-0 home win over Derby County.

While Birmingham’s men were busy losing the Second City derby, the Ladies team eased to a 6-2 victory over OOH Lincoln Ladies.

Bristol Academy came through a fiery derby clash at Cardiff after scoring four times in the second-half to secure a convincing 4-0 win.

Leicester Ladies kept their Cup dreams alive after coming from two goals down to defeat Preston Ladies 3-2.

Liverpool crashed out of the competition at the opening stage after suffering a brutal 5-1 beating at Sunderland. But their near neighbours Everton had no such problems, easing to a 5-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday.

Elsewhere, there were wins for Blackburn, Charlton, Chelsea, Leeds Carnegie, Doncaster Belles, Reading and Arsenal.
