Burnley FC academy: futsal

Burnley academy is one of a growing number of professional academies that are embracing the huge player development possibilities that the game of futsal provides.

The game forms part of its multi-sport programme.In the clip below you’ll see the energy, creativity and skill on display as the players are encouraged to ‘excite the coach’ through their play and express their creative abilities on the ball.

You’ll also see a great example of some individual coaching with the goalkeeper. Most of the other players will be unaware of this intervention as they’re allowed to continue playing whilst the player and coach work together. The coach doesn’t always have to stop the whole group to make a point that’s only relevant to one or two players, so remember this in your own coaching.
