BIO
Alex was first involved with England at U19 and U21 level, when he was on the books of his first club Reading.
A regular in Stuart Pearce’s Young Lions set up, he was part of the squad who reached the 2011 U21 Euro Finals in Denmark whilst also trying to stake his claim for a spot with his club.
And after a spell in the Royals team during their Premier League campaign in 2012-13, he was rewarded with a call-up to the England senior squad for the games with Republic of Ireland and Brazil that summer.
After three years away, and spells with QPR and Crystal Palace, a switch to Southampton revived his international career as he was called into the squad by Sam Allardyce in September 2016 to replace his injured Saints team-mate Fraser Forster.
