BIO

The FA Crest

It sounds clichéd, but going to a World Cup is childhood dream stuff and would be the pinnacle of your career really.

A reliable presence on the left-side of defence and also capable of providing some bite in attack, Danny Rose has been a regular choice for Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate.

After coming through the youth ranks with Leeds United in his native Yorkshire before moving to Spurs as a teenager, Rose was a regular for the Young Lions and collected caps right through the age groups from MU16-MU21 level.

A string of loan spells away from north London with the likes of Watford and Sunderland aided his development before he became a regular at White Hart Lane and a firm crowd favourite thanks to a stunning long-range debut goal against local rivals Arsenal.

He had to show patience before earning his first senior cap too, when he featured against Germany in March 2016 almost three years after his final U21s cap.

His consistency and reliability mean he's been a regular in the squad since then, as well as an experienced head in the group with a number of younger players coming through the England ranks and something of a spokesperson on topics around mental health and racism in football.

Read more about Danny's pride in playing for England, in his own words.

"He’s cracked it. His defending's very good, he's decent in the air for his size, he’s got all the attributes of the modern day left back."
