DEVELOPMENT SQUAD CAPS
BIO
A solid goalkeeper and level-headed player who has proved his worth in an England shirt at all levels since making his debut for the U16s back in 2008.
Since then, he’s become a Euro champion at U17 level, excelled at the tender age of 18 in an U20s World Cup in Colombia and captained the U21s at the Euro Finals in 2015 before progressing into a regular and respected member of the senior set up.
Capable of making breath-taking saves, coupled with great skills in distribution and communication, Butland has the ability to challenge for caps for years to come.

"He’s a real example of how the England development system has worked. He’s played junior Euro Championships and junior World Cups with us. I think England has been as big a part of his development as his club career has."
Gareth Southgate
