As far as headline speakers go for our 2019 FA Goalkeeping Conference - there aren’t many bigger names than Peter Schmeichel.

As far as headline speakers go for our 2019 FA Goalkeeping Conference - there aren’t many bigger names than Peter Schmeichel.

The Champions League, UEFA European Championship, and five-time Premier League winning Goalkeeper took to the stage in front of more than 280 attendees to share his thoughts on modern day Goalkeeping, the importance of confidence and what it took for him to reach his legendary status within the game.

It was a highlight of a brilliant day of goalkeeping workshops at the national football centre, which this year focused on unearthing, inspiring and empowering future goalkeepers.

We had AFC Bournemouth goalkeeping coaches Neil Moss and Anthony White showing how to provide realism when training goalkeepers both in and out of possession.

And England Handball’s national performance manager Bobby White gave his insight into the lessons we can learn from the sport when developing Goalkeeping skills.

Our very own Jen Herst and Danny Alcock were also on hand to share expertise on working players across the age phases.

Safe to say, there was plenty to enjoy for those on the day.

Such a positive response didn’t surprise our Head of Goalkeeping Tim Dittmer, who spoke to us after the event:

“What a day” he told us.

“It’s been truly inspiring to see how so many have shaped, designed and delivered their approach to help develop Goalkeepers for today’s game.

“A huge thank you goes out to everyone that attended and all of our speakers for making it such a fantastic event.”

The FA Goalkeeping Conference takes place at St. George’s Park each season and is open to coaches of all levels, experience and backgrounds.

We're already planning for next year's event. Keep an eye out for announcements regarding dates and full information.
