Seventy-three Step 5 clubs have applied for promotion to Step 4 of the National League System at the end of the 2013-14 season.
Step 4 encompasses:
Northern Premier League Division One North
Northern Premier League Division One South
Southern League Division One Central
Southern League Division One South & West
Isthmian League Division One North
Isthmian League Division One South
The 'National League System' is a system of promotion and relegation between Leagues at seven steps, or levels, below the Football League (the Football Conference National Division is classed as Step 1).
