Three-time FA Youth Cup-winners Everton made it through to the Fourth Round Proper of this year's competition on Monday night as two goals from George Green defeated Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0.
The England Under-18 striker opened the scoring on the hour at Goodison Park when he cut in from the left and struck a low shot in to the bottom corner.
And man of the match Green, 17, sealed Everton's progression to the next phase from the penalty spot on 75 minutes after the referee had spotted an infringement following a corner.
Brighton had their chances to take the lead in the first half. Fifteen-year-old Jordan Maguire-Drew narrowly failed to get on the end of Jason Davis' searching cross and Charlie Harris forced an excellent save from Everton goalkeeper Russell Griffiths.
But Kevin Sheedy's team, in particular Green, dominated the game after the interval to see Everton through.
Stoke City twice came from behind against Leyton Orient to book their place in the Fourth Round Proper, winning 5-4 on penalties after the game had finished 2-2 after extra time.
Josh Uzun put the away team in front with just five minutes of normal time remaining before an Eddy Lecygne penalty in stoppage time sent the game in to extra time.
Scott Kashket fired Orient back in front in the first minute of the extra 30 minutes only for Charles Weston-Hayles to latch on to Derice Richards' through ball to equalise for a second time and take the game to penalties, where the home side prevailed.
