The unpredictable nature of the game we all know and love was never more prevalent than in the 2013 edition of the FA WSL.
For the previous two years Liverpool had finished at the foot of the league - but in 2013 they turned the table upside down and went on to lift the trophy after a gripping battle to wrestle Arsenal’s nine-year grasp on the trophy away from north London club and up to Merseyside.
Arsenal did go on to lift both the FA Cup and the Continental Cup, but 2013 undoubtedly belonged to Liverpool Ladies.
The season came down to a title decider between Liverpool Ladies and Bristol Academy on 29 September, with Matt Beard’s side knowing a draw would be enough to seal the title.
However, the Reds went one better and thanks to goals from Louise Fors and Katrin Omarsdottir, Liverpool went on to claim all three points.
And the rest, as they say, is history...
