Jesse Lingard is hoping his short but impressive appearance for England Under-21s on Thursday will be enough to secure him a place in the starting line-up to face San Marino.
The Manchester United forward, currently on loan with Birmingham City, made an important contribution to the win over Finland by providing the pass for Saido Berahino's killer third goal.
And whilst he was only on the pitch in Milton Keynes for seven minutes, his appearance looked to give England an added cutting edge in the final third as Gareth Southgate's side took control of their Euro qualifying group.
Speaking to TheFA.com, Lingard said: "We're at the top of the table now, so hopefully in the next game we can get another three pioints and go clear.
"We can relax a bit then and look forward to the games next year.

"I was happy with that assist on Thursday, but I just wanted to play and get on the ball as much as I could to show what I can do."
The 20-year-old has been a regular in the Under-21s squad this season but has had to be patient with such a high number of attacking players in the group limiting his appearances from the bench.
But with the final game of 2013 against San Marino in Shrewsbury on Tuesday night, Lingard is hoping he did enough in the Finland match to force his way into the team.
"You've got to take your chance and I'm working hard in training day in and day out," he added.
"Hopefully I'll get my reward by starting against San Marino.
"If not, then I hope I can come off the bench and make an impact again."
