Pop star Olly Murs and BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw are to renew their rivalry with a rematch between the Olly Hot-Murs and Radio One-derers at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday 10 December, as The FA’s 150th anniversary celebrations draw to a close.
Olly, who is an FA150 ambassador and also performed on the Wembley pitch this summer in four dates supporting Robbie Williams, helped to secure the iconic home of football, Wembley, for the big match. The Hot-Murs and One-derers players will now follow in the footsteps of England legends David Beckham, Wayne Rooney and Bobby Moore in gracing the hallowed turf.
“The match in July at St. George’s Park was very one-sided so I’m hoping Nick and his team give us more of a game this time. My team is all ready to go, playing at the iconic Wembley Stadium in the final act of The FA’s anniversary year is all the inspiration we need. It is great to get the chance to play on the pitch after four big gigs with Robbie Williams earlier in the year.”
“Unfortunately my injury rules me out of playing for the One-derers, but we’ll be making a few signings and bringing a stronger squad to Wembley for the rematch. I’ll be channelling my inner Sir Alex Ferguson to inspire us on to victory this time around. Let’s have it!”
Live coverage of the big rematch can be heard on BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show on Tuesday 10th December.
