Wayne Rooney was happy to play provider as Manchester United progressed to the knock-out stages of the Champions League with a stunning 5-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen.
The England striker clocked up four assists at the BayArena on Wednesday to ease David Moyes’ men into the last 16 of the competition with one group game still to spare.
And Rooney was impressed with United’s team ethic as some impressive attacking play from the Reds set up the club’s biggest away win in Europe since 1964.
"It's a team game but it's always great when you can help your team-mates score goals," said Rooney.
"It was a perfect away match and we played very well.
“We defended well, there was some great counter-attacking football, we played with power, pace and composure.

"It was really as good an away performance as you can get."
Rooney also reserved special praise for team-mate and United legend Ryan Giggs who excelled with his midfield performance against the German outfit, just two days before his 40th birthday.
And the 27-year-old admits he remains staggered at the level of performance from the Welshman, with even the opposition players left purring at his quality.
"I've run out of things to say about Ryan," he revealed.
"Actually, during the game, the Bayer centre-half was asking how he is still playing at that age.
"I certainly won't be playing at that age, that's for sure. His composure on the ball is great."
