Lois Fidler praised her side’s resolve after they came from 1-0 down to beat Austria in their second match at the Women’s U17 Euros.
Nina Wasserbauer fired the visitors ahead on 15 minutes but Ashleigh Plumptre equalised with a header and substitute Lucy Porter completed the comeback from close range midway through the second half.
This win, coupled with Italy’s 2-0 victory over Portugal earlier in the day, means a draw against the Portuguese on Monday will be enough for England to seal a semi-final spot.

Fidler said: "It was quite a cagey game and my sympathies go to Austria after a hard-fought, competitive game which at times could have gone either way.
"But credit to my team, they stuck at it, showed a lot of character and eventually dug out a victory, so we’re on track.
"We showed a bit of resilience which is important, especially players of this age.
"Dealing with disappointment is part of the process but you never know how they are going to react, particularly in a tournament like this when it is a must-win game.
"I’m really pleased with how they reacted and stuck with it – it shows how tight the team is and how much they are willing to work for each other.
"I’m happy. I just hope the players can build on their belief set and go for it in the next game."
