It was a lively day for the England internationals on show in Saturday’s Premier League games, as Arsenal, Everton and West Ham United all picked up big wins.
Three Lions midfielder Jack Wilshere started for Arsenal in their game at Cardiff City, looking to continue his goalscoring form after a Champions League brace against Marseille in midweek.
And he almost broke the deadlock in the early stages in South Wales - only for his shot to hit the bar.
But that didn’t prove too costly, as a brace from Aaron Ramsey on the Welsh midfielder’s return to his former club coupled with a strike from Matthieu Flamini ensured that Arsene Wenger’s men extended their lead at the top of the table.
Everton really found their rhythm against Stoke City at Goodison Park, with Three Lions defender Phil Jagielka helping them to a clean sheet and a 4-0 win.
Goals from Gerard Deulofeu, Seamus Coleman, Brian Oviedo and Romelu Lukaku did the damage for Roberto Martinez's side, in a game which saw England midfielders Gareth Barry and Leon Osman figure throughout.
England Under-21s defender John Stones also got a taste of the action, replacing James McCarthy for the last 16 minutes as Everton moved into the top four.
West Ham United were also in convincing form at the Boleyn, dominating against struggling Fulham and collecting a 3-0 win.
There were no goals in the first half despite the hosts’ superiority, but once Mohamed Diame struck them ahead in the 47th minute, it was one-way traffic.
England striker and Hammers sub Carlton Cole had been on the pitch for less than a minute when he slid home a second goal after a cross from the impressive Stewart Downing.
And Ravel Morrison then came off the bench to set-up a third for another former Three Lions star, as fellow sub Joe Cole curled home in the later stages.
Elsewhere, former England Under-21 call-up Gary Hooper was on the mark, as his first-half goal was enough to secure victory against Crystal Palace at Carrow Road whilst Aston Villa and Sunderland drew a blank at Villa Park.
In the Championship, Under-21s striker Danny Ings scored his 15th goal of the season for Burnley but that wasn’t enough to prevent the Clarets from slipping to a 2-1 defeat against Huddersfield Town.
