Mark Sampson is relishing his first competitive match in charge of the England Women’s team.
Since his appointment in December, the head coach has been at the helm for five games – three wins and a defeat in the Cyprus Cup last month and a 1-1 draw with Norway in La Manga in January.
On Saturday he will send his team out for a World Cup qualifier against Montenegro in what will be his first assignment on home soil – in this instance, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Amex Stadium.

Sampson said: "We’re looking forward to the game. We’re in the early stage of our journey, we’ve had another good week on the training ground [and] the girls are looking forward to performing tomorrow afternoon.
"In the team meeting this morning we spoke about the potential differences playing in front of our own supporters, our family, our friends, and they were all positive differences. We’re looking forward to doing our absolute best to try and put on a good show.
"It will be a really special moment when we hear that anthem."
The Three Lions are expected to defeat Montenegro comfortably. There are 77 places between the two nations in the FIFA rankings and England haven’t conceded a goal in their four qualifying wins so far – while Zoran Mijovic’s side have lost all of their matches.
Sampson plans to take the game to the visitors and has been working on attacking practices all week.
He explained: "In terms of our long-term plan, we are aware that we can only cover so much in a short space of time.
"The training phase we are in at the moment is around our ball retention and the ability to create chances in the final third, and the other areas will be fed in as we go longer into the journey.
"Hopefully tomorrow we’ll see a lot of the work we’ve done in training, but the important thing is the players show that intent and willingness to try and give it a go and so far so good with that – and no reason why that won’t happen tomorrow."
