The Leicester City forward scored his first goal for the Young Lions on Friday, but despite his strike, his side suffered a 2-1 defeat at Chesterfield.
“I’m happy with my individual performance but disappointed that we couldn’t get the win,” the goalscorer told TheFA.com.

“As a team, we were on top and we should have seen the game out towards the end and not conceded, but a moment’s lack of concentration cost us.”
He continued: “We need to be more clinical in and around the box and take more shots. We also need to look for more precise passes, we can’t just keep going from side to side. Possession is good, and we dominated it again, but we really need to make something out of it.
“We want to bounce back from this and finish with a win against Italy.”
Although obviously disappointed to suffer the setback, it was not all bad for Ndukwu at The Proact Stadium.
“Despite the pain of defeat, I’m really happy that I could get my first goal,” he explained. “I remember the ball coming across the box and thinking ‘I need to get on this first’.”
And get on it he did – and it was a move he was particularly pleased to finish after some hard work on the training pitch.
He added: “It was Jacob Maddox who got in the cross, and we were working on that the other day in training with assistant coach Chris Ramsey. We kept practising scrappy finishing and I’m really pleased to see that practice pay off for me.
“I didn’t even see it go in the back of the net, but I saw everyone running over and cheering, shouting my name, and I knew then that I’d scored.”
After his goal, Ndukwu is now hoping for another chance to impress head coach John Peacock at The Pirelli Stadium on Sunday.
“I just hope I’ve done enough to earn another chance and get selected in the starting 11. Then when I’m on the pitch I’ll be doing all I can to try and make sure we get the win that the whole team wants.”
