The 23-year-old’s maiden international goal came in her second game of the year after she came off the bench in the 1-1 draw with Norway in January, head coach Mark Sampson’s first match in charge.

Bonner’s final game of 2014 was the resounding 10-0 win over Montenegro, a result which ensured England’s 100 per cent record in World Cup qualifying.

On the domestic front, things couldn’t have gone much better as Bonner captained Liverpool to their second successive FA WSL 1 title.

The Reds pipped Chelsea and Birmingham City to the title on the final day of the season.
