With five goals in 12 games, it’s like Lianne Sanderson has never been away.
Following her four-year international absence, Mark Sampson recalled the then-Boston Breakers striker for his first match in charge, the 1-1 draw with Norway in January.
And it didn’t take Sanderson long to get back into the swing of things, netting a match-winning brace against Canada at the Cyprus Cup in March.
The 26-year-old took this form into World Cup qualifying just a month later, scoring in the 9-0 rout of Montenegro in Brighton.
Sanderson was again on the scoresheet as England impressed in beating Sweden in a friendly in August before scoring in the 4-0 victory over Wales that sealed a place at Canada 2015.
And she finished her year by re-signing for Arsenal Ladies.
