Both sides have conjured recent success in the competition with five trophies between the clubs in the past 13 campaigns.
Whitley Bay v Dunston UTS
The FA Vase
Third Round Proper
3pm, Saturday 6 December 2014
Hillheads Park, Whitley Bay FC
Winners receive £1500 from prize fund
Dunston featured in their first and only FA Vase final in 2012 when they won the trophy, while Whitley enjoyed an annihilating phase from 2009 to 2011 with a hat-trick of triumphs following their first win back in 2002.
The Northern League Division One rivals have already met once this season with Dunston coming out on top 1-0, and Whitley manager Leon Ryan wished they would not be playing them again if he could help it.
"Dunston knocked us out last year and I would have preferred a different draw," admitted Ryan, who was part of the Bay team involved in those more recent Vase successes.
"We play the same teams all the time in the Northern League and the cup competitions are about testing your players and getting them experience, so it would have been interesting to face some new opposition.
"I've done my homework and I know we're going to be measured against the previous regime. The club has a love affair with The Vase and there is some pressure from the fans due to the assumption the club should get near to The Final every season."
Ryan won the trophy three times as a player, twice for Whitley and once for Spennymoor Town.

And if he had to choose between league success and winning The Vase as a manager, he admitted their chances of success this year may fall in the cup.
He added: "We haven't won the league for seven years and I'm not writing off our chances, but you need consistency beyond just four games. It's very hard to win this league while realistically we could win The Vase."
In his first season as a manager, Whitley's recent form has been promising with 19 goals scored in their last four games, and Ryan believes with a fully fit squad anything's possible for his side.
He concluded: "Our best XI is as good as any. We only had 12 men available on Saturday but Alex Kent, one of our best players, is back from injury and Paul Robinson is back from suspension.
"We have to play 50 to 60 per cent better than we did against them when we lost 1-0 and we'll get our best side out."
