The Italian Football Federation has advised that the city of Turin will stage England’s fixture against Italy on Tuesday 31 March 2015.
However the governing body will not be in a position to announce the exact venue – either Torino’s Olympic Stadium or the Juventus Stadium - until the New Year.
Italy v England
International Match
Tuesday 31 March 2015
Turin, Italy
The FA had been awaiting confirmation from the Italian Football Federation since the fixture was announced in October and would like to apologise to supporters for any inconvenience caused by the slight delay.
Next year marks 25 years since England’s World Cup Italia 1990 semi-final exit in Turin following a penalty shoot-out defeat to West Germany.
It will be the 26th senior meeting between the two sides – Italy’s 10 wins outweighing the Three Lions’ eight – with the last coming at this summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.
England’s first of five previous visits to Turin came in 1948 and ended with an outstanding 4-0 victory courtesy of goals from Tom Finney (twice), Stan Mortensen and Tommy Lawton.
The host stadium will be announced in due course, at which point tickets for the game will be made available to members of the England Supporters Travel Club.
