John Stones made his England senior debut on 30 May this year, two days after his 20th birthday.
He came on for Everton team-mate Leighton Baines for the last 15 minutes of the Three Lions’ pre-World Cup 3-0 friendly victory against Peru at Wembley.
He came on for Luke Shaw in the next friendly, against Ecuador in Miami, and was a stand-by player for the World Cup who was lined up to replace Phil Jones if the Manchester United defender hadn’t recovered from injury.
His four appearances this year make him one of 31 players to feature for Roy Hodgson's side in 2014.
Stones, a 6’2” central defender or right-back, gave assured performances as he started England’s first two matches of the current season against Norway in a Wembley friendly in early September and Switzerland in a Euro 2016 Qualifier in Basle five days later.
He was later injured playing for his club, Everton, and missed the October double-header with San Marino and Estonia.
He was a regular for England’s Under-21s last season, making his debut in a 6-0 win over Scotland at Bramall Lane in August and keeping his place for the next seven fixtures.
Stones came through the youth academy at Barnsley, his hometown club, and signed as a professional late in 2011 before moving to Goodison Park in January 2013.
