Alex Greenwood made her England debut in 2014

A former England U17, U19 and Under-23 international, Alex Greenwood made her senior team debut in 2014 – and scored her first goal.

The Everton youngster made her bow in the Cyprus Cup in March, replacing Demi Stokes during England’s 2-0 win over Italy.

Greenwood made her first start just two days later – and put in a star turn as Mark Sampson’s side eased to a 3-0 win against Finland.

The 21-year-old had a hand in the opening goal, sending in the free-kick from which Anita Asante broke the deadlock, following Gemma Bonner’s flick.

She had a more direct impact in the second goal, providing another free-kick which Bonner headed home at the near post.

Further substitute appearances followed, against Ukraine and Sweden, before Greenwood opened her England account by firing the eighth goal in the 10-0 win over Montenegro.

She finished her year by coming off the bench, again for Stokes, in the historic, record-breaking match at Wembley against Germany.
