In a open and attacking contest Littlehampton took the lead in the 22nd minute.

However just seven minutes later, Ashford equalised as the two sides continued to carve out chances.

The half culminated in Ashford taking the lead in the 40th minute through Stuart Zanone, who also found the net in the initial meeting between these two sides last weekend.

On that day the two sides had drawn 3-3 and the high number of opportunities created on Tuesday night showed just why.

In the second-half both teams had opportunities to find the net again, but as the conditions worsened neither side was able to add to the scoring.

Ashford’s reward for defeating Littlehampton is a Fourth Round meeting with Norwich United on January 17.

The replay between Ashford and Littlehampton was on the only match on Tuesday night, after Shaw Lane Aquaforce’s encounter with Shildon was postponed until December 16 due to weather.

Elsewhere on Tuesday evening, a late Charlie Little gave Hullbridge Sports a 1-0 victory over Great Yarmouth Town.

Shaw Lane Aquaforce v Shildon, meanwhile, was postponed.
