FA Chairman Greg Dyke has praised the nationwide response to the Football Remembers commemorative campaign, describing it as "remarkable".

More than 10,000 images of football teams putting rivalries aside have been uploaded to the Football Remembers website, from Premier League, Football League and FA Cup matches right through to the grassroots level of the game as teams have joined together as one before their games.

The images of the combined photos have been submitted to the FootballRemembers.com, as the football family unites to commemorate the 1914 Christmas Day Truce.

Football Remembers is a joint initiative by The FA, Premier League, Football League and the British Council, to both commemorate the spirit of the 1914 Truce, and educate a new generation about one of the most heart-warming stories in the history of humanity.

The FA and its partners are calling for clubs to continue to show their support for the campaign by taking photos and posting them to social media using #FootballRemembers.

To date, images have been submitted featuring players from all levels of the game, including from disability football, women’s football, five-a-side, junior football right through to the likes of England captain Wayne Rooney ahead of Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Southampton last Monday.

And Dyke has been left impressed by the effort, saying: "The response of the football community to the Football Remembers campaign has been truly remarkable.

From the Premier League to school teams, thousands have taken part in Football Remembers

"To have more than 10,000 photos from Premier League, Football League and FA Cup matches through to men, women and children at a grassroots level of the game demonstrates the continued significance of the Christmas Day Truce."

A series of further events to mark the anniversary are still taking place over the coming week.

On Friday, FA President HRH The Duke of Cambridge attended a dedication ceremony for a monument commemorating the Christmas Truce at the National Memorial Arboretum.

He was joined by Dyke, England manager Roy Hodgson and representatives from the Premier League, Football League and the British Council.

And on Wednesday 17 December, the British Army will take on the German Army in a special football match at Aldershot Town – bringing together serving soldiers from both countries almost exactly 100 years on from the original Christmas Truce moments of 25 December 1914.

A special photo opportunity will take place with the two teams at Wembley Stadium on 16 December.
