Michael Keane made six Under-21 appearances in 2014

Michael Keane enjoyed a 2014 to remember at international level as he was a regular in the back-line for Gareth Southgate’s England Under-21s.

The Manchester United centre-half, currently on loan with Premier League side Burnley, formed a solid partnership with Liam Moore for the majority of his six appearances during the year.

And he also proved his versatility by featuring as a right-back in the later stages of the Euro Qualifying campaign as the Three Lions secured their place at next summer’s Euro Finals in Czech Republic.

Keane, 21, was also part of Southgate’s U20s squad which finished in fourth spot at the Toulon Tournament in France during May and early June.

Domestically, Keane finished the 2013-14 campaign on loan at Blackburn Rovers in the Championship before enjoying a good pre-season under Louis Van Gaal.

He then joined  newly promoted Burnley in August and has since made his top-flight debut with the Clarets.
