Over 8,500 votes were cast over a two-week period and in the end the striker’s superb finish managed to edge out Carl Froch’s stunning punch which knocked out George Groves into second place.
Twelve nominees were whittled down to a top five by an online poll which also included Detroit Lions amazing comeback from 21-0 down, David Meyler’s record-breaking goal for Hull and Alex Revell’s wonder strike in the League One Play-Off Final.

However, ultimately it was Zamora’s priceless finish which was crowned the winner and the man himself was quick to express his delight.
“That moment ranks right up there for me, alongside scoring the winning goal in the Play Off Final for West Ham in 2005,” the QPR forward told us.
“I am very, very privileged to have done it twice. It was just amazing.
“When the ball dropped to me, I saw a big part of the goal and it was just a case of hitting the target.”
“I connected with it perfectly and it went into the inside netting, which is just where you want it to go.”
“To do it in the 90th minute was just unbelievable.”
Wembley’s managing director Roger Maslin admitted that Zamora had faced stiff competition for the award after a stellar year for the stadium.
However he went on to say that the nature of the goal made it an excellent choice.
“Wembley Stadium has always been home to some of the world’s biggest sport and music entertainment events, and 2014 has been no exception.
"A women's football first, an unbeaten start to England's Euro Qualifying campaign, three nights of One Direction, more fantastic International Series matches with the NFL and not to mention that unforgettable night in May when we welcomed boxing back to the Stadium.
"These events, together with our annual feast of Football League, FA Cup, Rugby Football League and Saracens rugby made for a fantastic calendar.
"However, the sheer drama, and jubilation from fans and players alike as Zamora secured promotion for QPR is one that will live in the memory – a worthy winner of Wembley Moment of the Year 2014.
"We look forward to welcoming our event owners and their fans back in 2015 for what will undoubtedly be another year to remember at Wembley Stadium."
