Daniel Sturridge celebrates his equaliser against Italy
Daniel Sturridge began the year in fine fashion for England, bagging a late winner against Denmark in the March friendly at Wembley.

The Liverpool striker followed that up with another goal in the World Cup send-off game against Peru, and headed to the Finals full of confidence.

The 25-year-old narrowly missed out of the Premier League title with the Reds after forging a formidable strike partnership with Luis Suarez and scoring 24 goals.

Sturridge carried that scoring touch into the opening game in Brazil, netting the equaliser against Italy in a match England were unlucky to lose.

He started in the next two games, but it was Suarez who hit the headlines with the goals that sent the Three Lions home early.

This season has been tough for the former Manchester City and Chelsea man.

After featuring in England’s opening game of the season – the 1-0 win over Norway – injury has seen him sidelined since. He is expected back in action early in the New Year.
