Kenny Swain refused to be downbeat following England U16s' 3-1 defeat by Spain in the UEFA Development Tournament opener at St. George's Park.
Daniel Villanueva, Carlez Perez and Francisco Villalba all scored eye-catching goals for the visitors, while Three Lions captain Kaylen Hinds netted a late consolation for England.
But Swain was satisfied with side’s performance despite the disappointing result.
Highlights: England 1-3 Spain
The Head Coach told FATV: "We all know what Spain play like and they set a good tempo to the first half, which we found difficult to stay with.
"But I thought overall [we] kept up with the pace quite well, we created some good chances in the first half and going in 1-0 down [at the break] there was every chance we could get back in the game.
"Once the second goal went in against the run of play it was difficult for us.
"But we really stuck at it well. We had possession for long periods [and] we did create some good chances.
"The goals they scored were good goals from distance; we weren’t carved to pieces in that respect.
"I think we matched them up quite well."
