Keane is still waiting for a chance at Loftus Road

Harry Redknapp is hoping England Under-21 striker Will Keane could step into the Queens Park Rangers team to boost their promotion chances.

The Manchester United youngster joined the Championship side on loan for the rest of the season on transfer deadline day last month, one of five new arrivals in a hectic day at Loftus Road.

The 21-year-old has since been overlooked by Redknapp in their two matches so far this month, despite the loss of top scorer Charlie Austin to injury.

But he could be in line for an opportunity now, following Rangers’ 1-0 defeat to promotion rivals Derby County on Monday evening.

“I'm looking forward to seeing young Will now, he's a good player and he will get a chance,” said the Rangers boss.

"It's an area we might be a bit short in but I still feel we have a big chance [of promotion].

"Charlie was our goalscorer so he's a big loss, and Matty Phillips is out for the rest of the season too.

"I may look at it again [the loan market] and we've still got Kevin Doyle, even though he's been out of the goals at Wolves.”

Keane has been a regular scorer for both England and United throughout their development teams, featuring at U16, U17, U19 and Under-21 level for the Three Lions.

During that time he helped England to the U17 Euro title and United to The FA Youth Cup title until an unfortunate knee injury suffered whilst on England U19 duty in 2012 set him back.

But he has since made a full recovery and was invited to train with the Under-21s in November by boss Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate and has also spent time on loan in the Championship with Wigan Athletic earlier this season..

Meanwhile, the latest player that has been linked with a move to Rangers is Keane’s former Manchester United and England team-mate and West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison.

After an eye-catching start to the season, he’s been out of Sam Allardyce’s team in recent weeks and Redknapp claims he would welcome him to Loftus Road as the west Londoners chase a return to the Premier League.

"He’s a real talent and if they want to loan him he'd be of interest, that's for sure," added Redknapp.

England Under-21s are next in action on Wednesday 5 March when they face Wales, at Derby County’s iPro Stadium.

Tickets for the game are priced just £10 for adults and £5 for U18s. These can be purchased in person from the Digonex Ticket Office, by calling 0871 472 1884 (option 1) or by visiting WeAreDerby.com.
