England and Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson is close to a return to action as he recovers from a series of injuries, according to his club boss Brendan Rodgers.
The 29-year-old was last month ruled out "indefinitely" by Rodgers due to an ankle complaint - but has made significant progress and could return within the next week.
Rodgers said: "Glen Johnson is working very well. I'm not sure he'll be ready for the game this weekend [for The FA Cup match against Arsenal], but if we can have a good week next week he'll be very close.
"He looks fresher and he looks fitter. That period that he's had out has really helped him. He's in good condition. But there is still a bit to go yet."
