England U19s striker Chris Long will be hoping to get his first taste of senior domestic football this weekend, after signing on loan for MK Dons.

The 18-year-old Everton youngster has agreed an initial one-month deal with the League One club, after impressing for the Toffees in their Under-21 and reserve teams this season.

Long was part of the England U20 squad which travelled to Turkey for the World Cup last summer, where he played in the opening game with Iraq and also scored a goal in a pre-tournament win over Uruguay.

Chris Long scored against Uruguay last summer.

Capped by England at every level from U16 to U20, most recently for Noel Blake's U19s in their 4-1 win in Hungary in November, Long also signed his first professional contract at Goodison Park last July and will now look to take the next step in his career at stadiummk.

Speaking about the signing, MK Dons boss Karl Robinson revealed: “I’ve known Chris since he was seven and he’s somebody who has always been high on our list of potential targets.

“He’s only young at 18 years of age, but he’s talented, he’s quick and I know he’s somebody who The FA speak very highly of.

Chris Long speaks after a goal against Italy for England U18s.

“We’re thankful to Roberto Martinez and Alan Stubbs at Everton for allowing us this opportunity to work with and develop Chris and hopefully we can do that for them.”

He replaces Patrick Bamford in Robinson’s squad, after the England Under-21 striker’s loan from Chelsea expired last week.

Long will go straight into the MK Dons squad for their game with Shrewsbury Town this weekend.
