Howard Webb has spoken of his pride in being selected by FIFA as England's refereeing representative at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Webb and his assistants Darren Cann and Mike Mullarkey were named among a group of 25 refereeing trios from 43 different countries at the FIFA Referees Committee in Zurich on Tuesday.
Commenting on the news of his appointment, Webb said: "All referees want to officiate on the highest stage, so it’s a great honour for myself, Darren and Mike to return to the FIFA World Cup finals."
Webb and his team also officiated at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and were given the honour of taking charge of the final between Spain and the Netherlands - just two months after being asked to officiate the UEFA Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.
"The World Cup is special to be part of and we had an amazing experience in South Africa," added Webb.
"Our involvement in the Confederations Cup last year means we can’t wait to return to Brazil for what promises to be a terrific tournament."
Between now and the World Cup, the selected group of match officials will participate in three seminars - February, March/April, and the last one ten days before the kick-off of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
A FIFA spokesperson added: "The selected referees and assistant referees will be followed and monitored regularly during this period, and FIFA is ready to give them all the support they need so that they can prepare for this important World Cup in the best possible manner."
