East Preston are through to the Fifth Round

East Preston knocked Brantham out of The FA Carlsberg Vase on Saturday with a 3-0 win in the Fourth Round.

The club went to great lengths, with the generous help of local volunteers, to get the game started after a week of heavy rain and it proved worthwhile when they raced into the lead.

Mike Huckett put his side in control after 45 minutes and Liam Baitup added the second 19 minutes later.

And with six minutes remaining Joe Shelley completed the scoring from the penalty spot.

Eastbourne United were also in action and they won 7-2 against Hanworth Villa in another rain-lashed fixture.

With the match poised, with 15 minutes remaining, the referee temporarily halted the action when a vicious storm cast a shadow over whether the match would be completed.

Eastbourne had raced into a two-goal lead thanks to finishes from defender Sean Ray after 20 minutes and four minutes later midfielder Joe Ray doubled their advantage.

But Hanwell refused to give up and levelled the tie; firstly striker Adam Turner reduced the deficit to a single goal before team-mate Ross Cheetham evened up the scores.

Extra time ensued and on 96 minutes marksman Ryan McBride grabbed his side's third goal and with 106 minutes on the clock Scott Dartnall put the game to bed.

However, Eastbourne were in the ascendancy and they piled in with more goals; Dyer completed his hat-trick against the beleaguered visitors and Wes Tate completed the rout.

Eastbourne will now face Morpeth Town in Round Five at The Oval.
