England manager Roy Hodgson hinted he may be about to unleash some of his youngsters against Ecuador on Wednesday.

After seeing his side defeat Peru 3-0 at Wembley on Friday, the Three Lions boss faces his penultimate World Cup warm-up match at The Sun Life Stadium, and he confirmed that he is ready to make alterations to his starting XI.

"Everyone is fit,” declared Hodgson. "There will be changes to the team but I cannot speak in detail because we will have a meeting where we will go through Ecuador and our preparation for the game. At that time I will tell the team who is playing.

He added: "I know a lot about the team and am comfortable with the 23 players I have brought here. It is a preparation game in the build-up to the opening game on 14 June. I hope I get no injuries.”

Despite keeping his cards close to his chest, Hodgson did confirm one name on his team-sheet for what he believes will be a tough test in the first of two matches this week, the second coming against Honduras on Saturday.

He said: “Frank Lampard will be captain and it is not an unusual position for him.

"I am looking forward to both friendlies coming up and will then start thinking seriously about the Italy team when we make our journey to Brazil. I will deal with one problem at a time and that is playing against Ecuador.

"We expect Ecuador to approach the game the same way we do. Their main focus is the opening game in the World Cup but it will give the players a chance to show what they can do before the coach makes his decision.”

The England squad had a good training session at the stadium on Tuesday according to Hodgson, who added that he believes the preparations in Miami are exactly what his team need before they fly down to Brazil.

He said: "I am pleased to be here in Miami. For the heat that we will experience we could not have come to a better place for our preparation before we leave for Brazil."
