The annual meeting of world football’s governing body has seen 209 nations gather at the Transamerica Expo Center in the Brazilian city and after an opening ceremony on Tuesday night, the Congress were quickly getting down to business on Wednesday with a packed agenda.
Among the items to be discussed are expected to be an update on Michael Garcia’s ethics investigation as well as the latest progress on CONCACAF head Jeffrey Webb’s anti-discrimination task force.
The FA contingent took part in UEFA meetings on Tuesday, and afterwards both Greg Dyke and David Gill, the FA Chairman and Vice-Chairman respectively, spoke out in response to criticism from FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter against British media for covering allegations of corruption.
The Congress is a curtain-raiser to the FIFA World Cup, which starts on Thursday evening with host nation Brazil up against Croatia in Sao Paulo.
