Hodgson showed against Italy that he is not afraid to use an attacking formation.
Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge, Raheem Sterling and Danny Welbeck all started against the Azzurri and Hodgson will look to use England’s forward threat again on Thursday to keep the Three Lions’ World Cup dream alive.

“The sort of attacking players we have got are capable of hurting the opposition,” said Hodgson.
“A top team like Italy were tested by the quality of our attacking players on Saturday and we aren’t going to put our weapons down now.
“Any weapon we have got we are going to try and use.”
But Hodgson is also aware of the attacking threat Uruguay pose with Edinson Cavani, Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez in their ranks.
And he is keen to strike the right balance inside the Arena Corinthians to ensure England's defence is not left exploited.
“It is very important at this level of football that you get both the attack and defense right,” he added.
“When we get the ball we use it and we use the players we have to who can hurt the opposition but we also need to make sure that our defending is spot-on.
“We want to win the game and we are only going to win it by doing all those things right.”
