Roy Hodgson says he is shocked by England’s World Cup defeat to Uruguay on Thursday evening.
The England manager was hopeful the Three Lions would go on to win the Group D showdown after Wayne Rooney’s 75th-minute strike cancelled out Luis Suarez’s opener.

But Suarez struck again in the 84th minute to leave England needing Costa Rica and Uruguay to lose to Italy to keep their World Cup dream alive.
“We are devastated because we believed we could do enough today to get a result in this game,” said Hodgson. "The players gave everything they had, and no-one can question that.
“Having worked so hard to counter the first Suarez goal and get back to 1-1 I fully believed we would go on to win the game or at least draw the game.

And Hodgson was disappointed with the manner in which England conceded their second goal.
Hodgson was complimentary of Uruguay’s star-man Suarez, though, who recovered from a knee injury to make his first appearance at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
"The first goal was exceptionally good,” he said. “I thought [Edinson] Cavani’s chip and him [Suarez] pulling to the back post before the cleverness of the header was really top, top play.
"The second one he was a bit fortunate to get himself free but of course when he got free he made no mistakes.
