Vincent Kompany hailed Wembley as "the best stadium in the world" after his Manchester City side staged a devastating second-half comeback to beat Sunderland in the Capital One Cup final.
The Black Cats took the lead through Fabio Borini’s superb 10th-minute opener but City roared back after the break, with Yaya Toure's stunning 25-yard strike pulling the scores level before man-of-the-match Samir Nasri and substitute Jesus Navas wrapped up the victory.
And City captain Kompany could not hide his delight at seeing his side lift the trophy at Wembley Stadium, connected by EE.
He said: “For me, this is the best stadium in Europe, maybe in the world at least when it comes to football venues.
“Lifting the trophy here is something special. We never take anything for granted and we will enjoy every moment.
“It was not a good performance from us in the first half but we were the better team in the second half.
“We had to improve and we came out and showed some really good stuff. The goals we scored were unbelievable.”
He added: “It’s our first trophy of the season but we should be hungry for more. We’ve achieved something great for the club and we need to carry on.”
