England manager Roy Hodgson has hailed the "remarkable achievement" of Arsene Wenger as he prepares for his 1000th match in charge of Arsenal.
The Gunners manager takes his side to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the Premier League this afternoon for what will be a top-of-the-clash, and ahead of the landmark occasion, Hodgson congratulated the 64-year-old.
Speaking exclusively to TheFA.com, Hodgson said: “As England manager and President of the League Managers Association I'd like to congratulate Arsene on reaching this memorable milestone.
“To manage one club for 1,000 games is a remarkable achievement.
“Recognised as an outstanding manager throughout the world, he has made an invaluable contribution to the game since his appointment at Highbury in 1996.”
Hodgson added: “Arsene has introduced many important changes, and achieved so much with Arsenal.
“I know that managers everywhere will join me in congratulating Arsene today wishing him every success in the future.”
