Everton manager Roberto Martinez sung the praises of Ross Barkley following his “special" solo strike in the victory at Newcastle United.
The 20-year-old midfielder set the Blues on their way to a 3-0 victory at St. James’ Park on Tuesday after running the length of the pitch to score a goal that left his manager beaming.
Speaking to evertontv, Martinez said: "It takes a special type of player. I think it was a unique goal that only Ross can score.
“With the technical ability and the physicality that you need to travel that distance, it is a unique trait of Ross.
"From that point on it could have been an ‘easy' performance for him but he worked as hard as ever and he did his role for the team well and that shoes the focus that he has."
Barkley will be hoping to continue his form up until the end of the season when Roy Hodgson names his England squad for the World Cup.
The Three Lions will have face Peru at Wembley on Friday 30 May in their final home warm-up before the tournament in Brazil. Tickets are still available here.
