Jay Rodriguez has spoken in glowing terms of his relationship with Southampton and England team-mates Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert.
All three were on target – Rodriguez twice – as the Saints eased to an impressive 4-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday.
The 24-year-old’s brace has moved him on to 15 Premier League goals for the season and he is the joint-second highest scoring Englishman, alongside Wayne Rooney and behind just Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge.
Rodriguez told Saints Player: "It’s unbelievable for the three of us.
"We work well together and we work hard for each other. It’s an honest relationship and I’ve learned so much from Adam and Rickie – they’re both great players, and it’s a pleasure to play alongside them.
"I think we’re very focused on the fact that we know we’ve got to work hard to keep playing well for Southampton, and that’s all we’re concentrating on at the moment.
"We’re working hard for each other, and I think you can see that it’s paying off with the results we’re getting and the fact that we’re complementing each other’s games."
