The Duke Of Cambridge will attend two Wembley fixtures in May
HRH The Duke of Cambridge will make it a Wembley double this month as chief guest at The FA Cup Final and England’s send-off match before the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The Duke will take his place in the Royal Box for the season finale between Arsenal and Hull City on Saturday 17 May, before returning to the national stadium for England’s international against Peru on Friday 30 May, the final fixture before Roy Hodgson’s squad heads to a training camp in Miami en route to South America.

It follows on from previous appearances at The Cup Final, starting in 2006 when the Duke first presented The FA Cup when Liverpool beat West Ham on penalties after a 3-3 draw in the last Final played in Cardiff, while Wembley was being rebuilt.

The Duke played a big role in The FA's 150th anniversary celebrations in 2013

And he was present a year later at the new stadium for Chelsea’s 1-0 extra-time win against Manchester United and then returned for the Blues’ 1-0 win over Portsmouth in 2010.

As President of The FA, the Duke played a key role in last year’s 150th anniversary, notably a football match and celebration of grassroots heroes at Buckingham Palace and a Gala Dinner on the date of The FA’s founding.

He last met the England squad when he opened St. George’s Park, The FA’s national football centre, in October 2012.

FA Chairman Greg Dyke said: "His Royal Highness is a fantastic supporter of the game at all levels, and it will be wonderful to welcome him again to Wembley for two major occasions.

"The FA Cup continues to capture the imagination of the public and it will be a special honour for whoever wins on the day to receive the famous trophy from The Duke.

"To then be able to welcome him back for England’s last home match is the icing on the cake.

"The whole country is looking forward to what promises to be a spectacular World Cup in Brazil and I am sure His Royal Highness, like everyone else at a packed Wembley, will enjoy a special atmosphere as we wave Roy Hodgson and the squad off to the finals."
